Nancy and John are two amazing people! My husband and I recently spent our honeymoon in St. Johns and we couldn't be any happier with our accomodations. They were extremely helpful throughout our entire stay. They gave us tips like what beaches to visit, how to get there and where we can grab good food. Nancy even booked our sail and snorkel excursion right after breakfast for the following day which was really nice of her. We stayed in the wild ginger room, which was clean, spacious and cozy. Nancy's breakfasts are THE BEST and I miss them dearly!!! GBTS is walking distance to town (Cruz Bay) and just the perfect place to relax and unwind. Thank you Nancy and John you guys made our stay memorable! Luisa & Joseph

We highly recommend this to any guests traveling to St. John. Frank and Mickey truly made the B&B feel like a “home away from home.” They made delicious, homemade breakfasts every morning. After breakfast, you get the “wind, weather and waves” forecast from Frank and Mickey tells you how many cruise ships will be in during the day - vital details for planning the day! Frank and Mickey both gave very helpful and detailed recommendations about snorkeling sites, their favorite spots on the beaches to camp out, hikes and restaurants in the area - it was like having a personal concierge! We had a wonderful time on the island - lots of snorkeling and we saw turtles, rays, octopi and all sorts of fish. We wouldn’t have found the best reefs without their insider knowledge. It would not have been such an amazing trip without such AWESOME hosts. When we return to St. John, we plan on staying here again! For great food, great service and great location - there’s no better place!

I can’t say enough what an amazing trip we had here at GBTS! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Wild Ginger room and it was fantastic. The bathroom/shower was very neat and the room had plenty of storage for all of our belongings, plus the air conditioner worked like a charm. The whole place is decorated in a lovely beachy style and is a nature preserve that host beautiful trees and interesting wildlife. The house is just a short distance from Frank Bay, which has stunning views at sunset, and isn’t far from Cruz Bay at all. We walked into town every day. Also, you can’t beat the price for the quality. With their competitive prices, we were able to spend more money on fun things like scuba diving, a sail charter with Captain Phil, renting a dinghy and a day trip over to St. Thomas to do some zip lining.
But the best part about this place is the managers, Mickey and Frank. They are wonderful people and genuinely care that your stay is as excellent as possible!

Another wonderful stay at GBTS. We return, year after year. Nancy and John, Mickey and Frank are warm and genuine people--they make us feel like family. St. John is tops, and GBTS is The Place to Stay!

We just returned from a lovely, rejuvenating time on St. John, and Garden by the Sea did not disappoint. When we were there celebrating our honeymoon 13 years ago, we thought our accommodations could not have been any better. BUT, alas, they were! The added air conditioning and WiFi were a definite plus, but my oh my, what wonderful hosts Frank and Mickey were. Nancy, I am sorry that we never had the chance to meet in person, but perhaps next time....

Frank and Mickey definitely went above and beyond their call of duty to make our trip extra special. The breakfasts were scrumptious and healthy, their help in planning the flow of the day to day activities enabled us to squeeze in all the things we had on our 'to do' list and their unending service to the guests does NOT go unnoticed. Their personalities were also so warm and inviting.

Garden by the Sea truly is a unique island experience. We always said we'd go back and stay there & we did, and I can only hope that we will be back.

You had us from "hello"! We got out off the cab in front of the B&B and Frank greeted us with a warm and friendly "hello and welcome". After a long day of traveling, this was just what we needed. Frank oriented us to the B&B and then took us in his own car and showed us how to get to town and some of the highlights. How nice is that?!! I honestly can not say enough nice things about Garden by the Sea. Frank and Mickey are the perfect hosts. They are sincerely concerned about our comfort wanting to make sure we were having a great time and that our needs were met. We felt like this was our home. The breakfasts were awesome, we slept so sound each night, the views breathtaking, the new friends we made was an added plus. Frank and Mickey are so knowledgeable about the island and all of their suggestions were right on the money. This was the most relaxing vacation ever. Garden by the Sea is our second home and we can't wait to return! This is the place to stay. Thank you!!!

We just returned from our stay at The Garden by the Sea and could not be any happier. From the moment we arrived, my wife felt like she was visiting family. John and Nancy were the most gracius and accomodating hosts. United had lost our luggage and Nancy kept calling the airline trying to find the bag-- but who needs clothes when you are in St John??? We never did get our bag until we got home but that didn't deter us from relaxing and enjoying the company of other guests. The rooms are excellent and the breakfast was spectacular. We even overslept from too many Bushwackers and Nancy still made us eggs benedict--what service!!! We are planning to make it an annual trip because of the great tips provided, from the beaches to what places to eat. A must for anyone who loves a slower pace and not the hustle and bustle of a cruise ship port island.

We just returned from a wonderful week at GBTS. John and Nancy are not only wonderful hosts but a storehouse of knowledge about St John's beaches, trails, restaurants, customs and culture. From the charm of Wild Ginger, to Nancy's breakfasts and the beautiful surroundings, everything was so enjoyable and relaxing. Thanks for everything.

Wonderful vacation in a fab B&B. Nancy & John know how to make a perfect home away from home for their guests. Such a comfortable and beautiful oasis with everything, and I mean everything, you need (wonderful breakfasts, beach chairs w/backpacks, coolers, frozen water bottles for cooler that double as drinking water, jeep reservations, an honor bar, in-depth island knowlege). We also were hosted by Mike & Carol when John & Nancy left for a respite vacation. Again - perfect hosts!! They were so accomodating, provided us with EVERYTHING we wanted or needed. Carol is a such a great cook and Mike is so easy to talk with!! Both made us feel so comfortable as though we've known them for years. Carol remembered how I liked her frittata and made it on our last day especially for me! Mike even drove us to the ferry on our way home. There is short but hilly walk to town but we loved the exercise and saw a ton of wildlife on the walk. BEST B&B we've ever stayed. We will be back!!

*****. GBTS is the ideal getaway. The hosts were incredibly hospitable, the food was the best on the island, but most of all the advice and conversation were invaluable. The hosts tipped us off to St. John's best secrets. GBTS is clean, quiet, affordable, and a short walk from town. GBTS has everything you will need: maps, sunscreen, bugspray, towels, snacks, drinks, even some snorkel gear. The outdoor shower is heaven. Have breakfast with hummingbirds and iguanas. You'll be in good hands.

Just back from a wonderful 10 days at GBTS. The location is perfect - far enough from town to be quiet but close enough to walk there when you want. Peter & Gail are tremendous hosts-they know the island well & give great advise about things to do & restaurants. Plus, Gail makes great breakfasts.

Should've written this a long time ago! We have been reminiscing about our perfect trip to Garden By the Sea in December 2010 and wondering when we can return! We had a wonderful 4 days/nights full of unforgettable snorkeling, relaxation, and dining. The pictures on the website bring me back, and almost to tears, at how beautiful it is! John and Nancy are the most gracious hosts; we recommend Garden By the Sea to anyone looking for a memorable vacation with just the right amount of personal attention. We enjoyed every minute!

This was our 2nd visit to St. John and our 1st stay with GBTS. There is no question that we selected the best location for our return trip...wonderful hosts and an ideal intimate location on the island. We felt geuinely welcomed and left with the feeling we had made some new island friends. We hope we can return the favor and host John and Nancy in our home on Martha's Vineyard.

Our second stay at GBTS, but certainly not our last--planning our return (sooner, not later!) Nancy and John are lovely hosts, and this hideaway B&B is just superb.

Am so sorry to just be writing this. We stayed at GBTS in March 2010 for David's 40th birthday. It was so perfect and charming that it has completely sold us on B&Bs and we will seek them out wherever we travel in the future. We have already recommended it to friends of ours traveling to St. John for their honeymoon! Thank you.

We're finally on vacation in Maine, with a little free time to send a belated thank you to John and Nancy for our stay with you in April. What a wonderful find you were for our first visit - walking distance to wonderful dinners, with spot-on recommendations to help; guidance to the best snorkeling we've ever experienced - but especially a comfy room and great spot to come home to, complete with baby chicks and peacock. We have a resident hummingbird who makes us nostalgic for the banana quits that kept us company at breakfast on the deck. Thanks again for our stay - hope we can get back down again soon.

Garden By the Sea was the perfect place to stay on St. John! My husband and I were there to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We stayed in the Garden Suite for five nights. Everything was great from the delicious breakfasts to the helpful advice. A huge thank you to Nancy and John for making us feel right at home and helping us to have a very memorable vacation!
